After a short summer break, the Orienteering Summer League resumed with a fast and furious Sprint Race around Swansea Marina. With excellent courses, testing navigation and route choice, racing was tight on both courses. On the Short Course, only 12 seconds covered the first 4 placings, with Ann Mitchell taking first place followed by newcomers Marc Yallop, Rhian Pippins and Alex Yallop in 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. Excellent to see them try a full event following their attendance at one of the "Fun in the Sun" activity sessions held earlier in the summer. On the Long Course, the British Squad athletes, Ben Mitchell and Megan Carter-Davies showed their class and finished well ahead of a chasing pack of three runners with Thomas Jefferies in 3rd place, just ahead of Tim Savill who was just ahead of William Lake. The tricky courses resulted in some experienced orienteers being caught out and missing a control or two as they pushed hard to complete the course. Full results are here.
