On Sunday at Margam Forest North the Swansea Bay OC Juniors saw off Cardiff based local rivals SWOC to win their heat of the Yvette Baker Trophy, the British junior club cup competition. Great runs by Freddie and William Lake and supported by Eugene Prout saw the team amass a score of 298 points against the SWOC total of 199 points. In the tough terrain and complex path and ditch network of the forest they needed all their concentration and techniques to ensure they found the controls with few errors.
This was part of the first Welsh League event of the year and in the bright spring sunshine Ben Mitchell kept up his impressive run of form by winning the Brown course by nearly 6 minutes covering the 7.8km in 54 minutes.
