Muddy JK fails to dampen the spirits

Muddy JK fails to dampen the spirits

Despite the mud and wet conditions there were some great results by club members over the Easter weekend at JK2024. The JK is the largest annual Orienteering event in the UK and regularly attracts over 3000 entrants, so there is tough competition for top placings in each class. This year it was hosted by the West and East Midland Orienteering Associations with the sprint at Loughborough University, the middle and long distances at Beaudesert near Cannock and the relays held at Stanton Moor.

There were many great individual performances by the juniors with many top 10 placings over the weekend. The full set of results are available here.

However the highlight was an amazing 2nd place for our junior men’s team of Robin, Alex and Vince. In a nail-biting race, Vince squeezed home, as both he and the runner from Inverness OC, slipped and fell on the last bend of the finish run in. However Vince recovered quickest to sneak ahead in a photo finish. Such drama and a fantastic performance!.
